It was a scoring opportunity for the Calgary Royals against the Flames Friday night

For one Calgary team it was the end of a rough season, for another it was a time to celebrate. The Calgary Flames midget AAA squad completed the two game sweep of the Calgary Royals in the Alberta Midget Hockey League round one playoff series. AAA Midget Buffs’ scoring opportunity against the Ernie’s Sports GP Storm Sunday at the Acadia Recreation Centre
The Calgary Midget AAA Buffaloes wrapped up their 2009-2010 regular season play on Sunday afternoon as they welcomed the Grand Prairie Storm to town. The Buffs were looking to gain momentum and a first round bye in round 1 of the AMHL playoffs. The game didn’t start well for the Buffs as they surrendered the first goal of the game. The Calgary Buffaloes goalie wasn’t called on often to make saves against the Leafs Saturday night

The Vancouver Giant score the winning goal against the UFA Bisons in the Mac's Midget Tournament final Friday afternoon
It was a heartbreak for the UFA Bisons at the final of the Macs tournament Friday afternoon at the Saddledome. The Bisons fell in a tight battle 2-1 to the Vancouver Giants. The two teams exchanged early goals and the score remained tied until late in the third when the Giants pulled ahead. The Bisons came close to tying the game late in the third on a power play, but rang a point shot off the goal post. Continue Reading

Bison players and fans erupt after Kirby Ruzesky scores in 2nd overtime period for Strathmore
It was a roller coaster ride, including two tension-filled over-time periods, for the UFA Bisons in the semi finals of the Macs Midget tournament Thursday, but they finally triumphed over the Red Deer Rebels 5-4 to advance to the finals Friday afternoon. . The Bisons got out to an early 2-0 ead in the game, but it didn’t last long. The game was a seesaw battle to the bitter end. The game was eventually tied in the third period at 3-3. A controversial too many men on the ice call put the Bisons short handed. The Bisons, however, capitalized on a turnover to take a late 4-3 lead. Continue Reading

The Calgary Buffaloes didn't spend much time in the P.A. Mintos' zone during the 3rd period because of penalty troubles
After getting off to a great start in the Mac’s AAA Midget Tournament the dreams of a repeat for the Calgary Buffaloes has come to an end. The Buffs came into Wednesday’s game against the Prince Albert Mintos needing at least a point to stay alive. Unfortunately for the Buffs the Mintos didn’t even allow them to get a sniff. Right from the get go the Mintos carried the play, doubling the defending champs in shots and jumping out to a 1-0 lead after the first. The Buffs still had a chance going into the second period thanks mainly to the play of goaltender Bryton Udy. In the second the Buffs seemed to match the play of the Mintos but surrendered two more goals. Continue Reading
