I hope you all had a happy, safe summer!
Some highlights for me: assisting with the Calgary Stampede (I am a member of the board of directors); participating in PNWER (the assoc of 10 western provinces & states); representing AB at the Annual Public Accounts Conference (I am the deputy chair); attending numerous community events; & meeting with many individuals & groups on all sorts of topics!

When I was seven, I stood in front of my elementary school assembly and told everyone that our school should have an aluminum can recycling depot.
With this personal history, I can understand why Saskatoon resident Sean Shaw recently called for citywide curbside recycling in his city.

Politics, as Carl von Clausewitz didn’t exactly say, is merely a slightly more civilized version of war. Thus, among the immutable laws of politics is this one: When in doubt, shoot those whose loyalty is in question and blame your communications people. Continue Reading

The recent arrival of 492 Sri Lankans on the West Coast, courtesy of the MV Sun Sea, claiming refugee status again raised the rhetoric which was of little help to refugee claimants or to their potential host countries. Continue Reading
