On the weekend, my grandparents had a beautiful 50th anniversary party with approximately 66 people. This included the original wedding party, some original wedding guests, the whole family, and a ton of extended family that has accepted the fact that they’re stuck with us. Continue Reading

Do you think it’s possible for almost anything to teach you a lesson? I do. If you fall off a ladder, you learn to be more careful or to get someone to hold it steady. If you stub your toe, you remind yourself to pick up your feet when you walk or that you shouldn’t walk there in bare feet.
I’ve just learned a lesson from an extremely expired pack of Kraft Singles. Continue Reading

I’ve been under the impression that love is unconditional, but maybe it’s not. Maybe it’s just a myth. Maybe it’s something we see in movies and read about in books so we have something to hope for, to look forward to. Perhaps it’s something that we want, just to want. Or maybe I’m just disappointed that this guy wasn’t the right guy, again. Continue Reading

Is it possible to live completely waste free? For a whole year? Grant Baldwin and Jenny Rustemeyer practically did. Mr. Baldwin and Ms. Rustemeyer are the co-founders of The Clean Bin Project which my mom heard about on CBC radio. With Mom’s love of spontaneous outings, we were off to The Globe Cinema to see the documentary about their attempt at a waste-free year. Continue Reading

Having a blog is like having an online diary. You write your secrets for cyberspace to enjoy usually under a silly name like Miss_Piggy32 or Hotmale_4_U. When they were all the rage towards the end of high school I thought I would try one out. Continue Reading

While a surprise is a romantic and wonderful thing, sometimes a little detail is necessary to have things go smoothly. My Prince Charming planned a wonderful surprise but would only tell me that he was picking me up from work on Thursday. Of course, I wanted to know what was going on, but he wouldn’t tell me anything helpful. Continue Reading

All right, I admit it. I was somewhat wrong about bullying, peer pressure and self esteem. A recent, very public experience at a spelling bee made me rethink a few of my views on these things. Continue Reading

Recently I was babysitting the two girls across the street. They’re in Grade Three and Kindergarden and they love (Love LOVE LOOOVEEE!!!) Hannah Montana. The littlest one says that when she grows up, she’s going to be a rockstar like Hannah. She also wants to be the girl who drives the cart to pick up balls at the driving range. She’s five, it’s normal. Continue Reading

Sometimes I get frustrated with love and, in the past, I have claimed to be giving up on men. “I have my family, friends, and great jobs. Who needs anything more?” I’d find a million ways to justify it to myself but the truth is, love doesn’t work that way. Continue Reading

Growing up, my family wanted to make sure I was going to be a well-rounded individual. They taught me the Suzy Home Maker stuff like sewing, ironing, folding, table setting, dishes, decorating etc, but I’m not good at it and more importantly, I don’t enjoy it (give me a drill or a circular saw, a dimpler or a nail gun to play with and you have my full attention).
