Festivals, sporting events and other exciting activities are on the drawing board of the new McKenzie Towne Community Association, says its president, Paul Lacerte.  The new association’s goal is to improve the quality of life for the community of approximately 10,000 in the deep southeast.  Continue Reading

A community garden pilot project is being considered a resounding success and will be back bigger and better in 2010, garden organizers say.  The WillowRidge Community Association, encompassing the communities of Willow Park and Maple Ridge, launched the community garden project in conjunction with the City of Calgary this past June. Comprised of 20 above-ground garden plots, community members were able to rent the beds for produce and floral gardening. Continue Reading

Oct. 3.  The Erin Woods Community Association organizes the annual event which provides residents with an opportunity within the community to dispose of electronics, old furniture and a variety of other household goods. If you want to shed a few of those holiday pounds or take up a new hobby, the winter programs are starting at McKenzie Towne Hall.  Registration for residents and non-residents began in December.  Spaces fill up fast, says General Manager Christine Hemminger, and people are encouraged to contact the Towne Hall as quickly as possible.
