Calgary police are looking for two men who invaded a home in the 100 block of Erin Park Circle S.E. Tuesday night around 9:30 and robbed an elderly couple.  The men, armed with guns, confronted the 69-year old woman in her backyard and forced her into the house.  Continue Reading

The City of Calgary parks department held an open house Tuesday night at the Southland off-leash park to update southeast residents on the $1.8 million upgrade that began last year.  Improvements included fenced on-leash pathways for pedestrians and cyclists, a concrete ramp for easy to access to the river’s edge, and greater protection for riparian zones within the park.  Calgary police are looking for a group that assaulted a man outside a southeast church late Saturday evening.  Just before midnight a church employee was standing in the building’s parking lot in the 800 block of MacDonald Avenue S.E. when he was approached by three males and a female, who came from the Elbow River pathway, located east of the church parking lot. Heritage buildings are an important part of a city’s skyline and heritage.  Citizens are often passionate about preserving the history of their community and building are important symbols of a community’s growth and development.  When a developer decides an old building has to be torn down, communities usually unite to oppose demolition and to preserve that piece of their history.  Such a fight is already brewing between the community of Inglewood and Matco Investments, led by Ron Mathison.
