The Calgary motorcycle racing season is set to begin this month and Calgary Motorcycle Racing Association volunteers have been busy getting the Race City track ready for high-speed racing.
2009 will be a busy year for the club, especially as it appears this will be the last season at Race City, which is slated to close its doors this year.
Round 1 of the CMRA racing series goes May 23-24 at the Race City track. There will be six rounds in all, concluding with a double-header on the weekend of September 19-20.
The highlight of the season will be the Parts Canada Superbike Championship, scheduled for June 25-28 at Race City. The Calgary track hosted its first national race in 1987 and 2009 will mark its 27th – and last – national event.
President Tim Johnson says the club is excited about the coming season and looking forward to enteraining Calgary and area racing fans.
